In this digital collage, the “FPS” perspective - borrowed from the first-person shooter genre - highlights the automatic nature of our defensive strategies, both in-game and IRL (in real life). But in this overly perfect garden, why isn’t the other person pointing their weapon? Somewhere between the representation of a romantic encounter and that of a final boss battle, Defense Mechanism questions our distrust of others and asks the viewer whether there is ever a right moment to lower our weapons - online as in love.
